-
Building Projects
This was one of our first building projects on the farm, a 3 bedroom home with attached secure storage.
-
Vegetable Garden
Mustard and Rape vegetables are grown here and sold wholesale to local vendors.
-
Greenhouse
We have two greenhouses full of tomatoes that are sold at market.
-
Maize
17 acres of maize are harvested every growing season.
-
Livestock
Goats are our first effort at livestock and have been a successful venture so far.
Our goal is to create an integrated, self-sustainable farm that allows the kids to learn about farming and growing their own food. This land is also a place for the kids to grow with God and learn to be good stewards of God’s creation.
Phase I: (Complete) Build a well (borehole) for irrigation and to supply clean water. Plant 17 acres of maize, cassava, and sweet potatoes. Build a kitchen/temporary shelter.
Phase 2: (Complete) Hire a farm manager with agriculture and business training. Build a caretaker’s cottage with attached secure storage. Plant an orchard with 350 fruit-bearing trees, including bananas, papayas, tangerines, mangos, and peaches.
Phase 3: (Complete) Buy 4 more acres and build two greenhouses for tomato farming. Build a goat enclosure and add 10 goats. Plant a vegetable garden. Build another house and more security sheds. Continue meeting with experts in various fields to gain more knowledge. Added an opportunity for our university students who are on break to volunteer at the farm.
Phase 4: Add beekeeping for security purposes and to produce honey. Consider adding tobacco as a cash crop. Purchase more farm equipment to better meet the needs of the growing farm. Purchase more farm equipment to make farming more effective and efficient.
Phase 5: Consider a maize mill. Consider a production facility to produce tomato sauce, packaged ground maize flour, and honey for market sales. Increase security measures. Consider adding more livestock.
